Pico-grids: Boond’s latest innovation to provide rural India with affordable access to energy

New Delhi, January 2015 – Boond Engineering is ready to further expand the introduction of its “pico-grid” solution, the latest innovation aimed at increasing access to energy in rural India.

A pico-grid consists of a central energy unit managed by a village-entrepreneur and powered by solar panels, which generates enough current to be distributed to 25 close-by non-electrified households. This technology solution provides the customer the possibility to check the balance anytime and to recharge it based on their consumption through a Bluetooth-based USB device that plugs into the central unit.

Boond has so far installed 14 of these systems in Uttar Pradesh and is now planning to further expand to other unserved areas.
